This Day in Rock History in 9.57 Seconds - September 8 | ►In 1976, Peter Frampton, girlfriend Penny McCall and manager Dee Anthony visit the White House at the invitation of President Ford's son, Steven. They end the day watching T-V with the president in the first family's living quarters.
►In 1990, Jon Bon Jovi scores a number-one with "Blaze of Glory," his first solo hit. Jeff Beck plays guitar on the song from the soundtrack of Young Guns 2.
►And happy birthday to Ben Orr (Benjamin Orzechowski) The Cars (and later solo) singer-bassist died of pancreatic cancer October 3rd, 2000 at 53.

This Day in Rock History in 9.57 Seconds - September 7 | ►In 1968, although not billed as such, Led Zeppelin plays its first two shows ever -- in Denmark. Billed as The New Yardbirds and there to fulfill concert obligations Jimmy Page had as the only holdover from the now-defunct Yardbirds, the quartet plays a place called Teen Club -- Box 45 in Gladsaxe in the early evening, then move on to the Brondby Pop Club in Copenhagen.
►In 1971, Who drummer Keith Moon, 32, dies in London of an accidental overdose of a drug to combat his alcoholism.

This Day in Rock History in 9.57 Seconds - September 6 | ►In 1968, Eric Clapton records his solo for The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
►In 1990, Tom Fogerty, the former Creedence Clearwater Revival guitarist and John Fogerty's brother, dies from tuberculosis at age 48.
►And happy birthday to Roger Waters, the former singer, songwriter and bassist in Pink Floyd, whose Dark Side of the Moon spent a record 741 weeks on the Billboard album chart, now works under his own name. Despite continuing animosity between Waters and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, the two were able to set aside their differences long enough to reunite the band for a one-off appearance at 2005's Live 8 concert in London. | |

This Day in Rock History in 9.57 Seconds - September 5 | ►In 1966, Jerry Lewis hosts his first muscular dystrophy telethon on a New York station and raises a million dollars in pledges to fight the disease. Within a few years, the annual event is televised nationally.
►In 1975, in Sacramento, California, President Gerald Ford escapes an assassination attempt by Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a follower of Charles Manson.
►And happy birthday to Freddie Mercury (Farookh Bulsara)Queen's outrageous lead singer and songwriter ("Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "You're My Best Friend," "We Are the Champions") died of AIDS November, 24th, 1991.

WAOR Tuesday Ten O'Clock News September 7, 2010 | Killers is new to DVD and Blu-Ray today. Ashton Kutcher has his super-spy lifestyle cramped when he falls for good girl Katherine Heigl. Tom Selleck, Catherine O'Hara and Martin Mull co-star. It comes with a gag reel; deleted, alternate and extended scenes; and the special "Killer Chemistry: Behind the Scenes With the Cast of Killers."
MacGruber is also available. A nuclear bomb threatens Washington, D.C. in the big-screen version of SNL's MacGyver-spoof sketch. Will Forte stars, with Kristen Wiig, Ryan Phillippe, Val Kilmer and Maya Rudolph. Extras include a gag reel, deleted scenes and commentary.
Camp Rock Two: The Final Jam puts Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers back in the woods. It comes with a "Rock-Along" interactive featurette and music videos.
Solitary Man stars Michael Douglas as a successful car dealer who crashes his career. Susan Sarandon, Danny Devito, Mary-Louise Parker, Jenna Fischer and Jesse Eisenberg co-star. Extras include commentary and a behind-the-scenes featurette.

WAOR Tuesday Ten O'Clock News August 31, 2010 | ►Marmaduke is new to DVD and Blu-Ray today. The Great Dane from the comics (now voiced by Owen Wilson) causes complications for his family on a move from Kansas to California. It's got voices by Emma Stone, George Lopez, Kiefer Sutherland, Sam Elliott and Marlon Wayans. Extras include deleted scenes, a gag reel and the specials "Cowabarka! Surfing Dogs" and "Canine Casting."
►In the sequel Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too, couples re-connect at a tropical retreat. It stars Perry, Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Cicely Tyson, Malik Yoba, Michael Jai White, Richard T. Jones and Louis Gossett Junior. It comes with the featurettes "Girl Talk: The Women of Married" and "Male Bonding: The Men of Married," as well as Janet Jackson's "Nothing" music video.
►Harry Brown stars Michael Caine as a retiree who takes justice against neighborhood punks into his own hands. Extras include commentary with Caine and deleted scenes.
